Contemporary Painter

Cynthia Duff

Working from a light-filled studio overlooking the Grand Junction Valley, Cynthia Duff creates dynamic works on birch wood that reflect the rugged beauty and spirit of the American West. Her signature technique—melding layered compositions with the natural grain of wood and subtly fracturing imagery—imbues each piece with texture, movement, and depth. A Colorado native, Duff draws inspiration from a lifelong connection to the region’s landscapes, wildlife, and artistic heritage. Her creative foundation is rooted in a professional background in corporate and marketing design, which continues to inform her distinctive sense of composition and form.

Duff’s work has been featured in numerous publications, including Vail Art Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, Western Art & Architecture, Artist Magazine, Watercolor Magic, and Nebraska Life. Her collaborations with poet Trish Moon-Beem have resulted in several illustrated books, including Prairie Meditations, Kindred Spirits, Here’s Cheers, and Crane Essence. She has contributed artwork to high-profile cultural events and public art initiatives, such as the Colorado Winefest poster series, Grand Junction’s Art & Jazz Festival, Powderhorn Ski Resort, and the Sandhill Crane Festivals across the Midwest. Her work has also been included in Denver’s renowned Mask Project and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra’s painted violin series.

Duff’s paintings are held in hospital and institutional collections throughout Colorado, Nebraska, and Chicago, and are part of private collections internationally.
